Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Brett Maddux

Dr. Maddux is a specialist in Periodontics and Implantology. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Florida State University, he earned a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Dental School. He then continued an additional three years of Periodontal residency training at UAB and the Birmingham V.A. Medical Center. He is a life-long learner and continues to implement the latest technologies and protocols, in order to provide state of the art, quality care to his valuable patients.

Dr. Maddux enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, fishing and playing basketball.

Why Might I Need a Dental Implant?

Having a gap between your teeth can detract from an otherwise attractive smile, but even worse, can also create problems for your natural teeth. Your teeth surrounding the gap will gradually begin to shift out of position resulting in unwanted and unsightly spaces between other teeth.

Your opposing teeth rely on biting and chewing to stay in the correct position, and if they cannot bite against another tooth they will gradually shift towards the empty space (over eruption). This can affect your bite, and may be uncomfortable and costly to put right.

Losing teeth can also affect your facial profile. Your cheeks and lips rely on your teeth for support and for keeping correct dimensions between your upper and lower jaws. If you have lost multiple teeth, patients will often discover facial features collapsing inwards, which can give the appearance of premature aging.
